Homestays

Highgate Academy has a large number of homestays where students can stay in a home environment with local people. Homestay owners are carefully selected for their kind and caring personalities and their genuine desire and willingness to open their homes and share their family lives and customs with the students.

Students who live in a homestay find that their English improves dramatically through conversation and daily interaction with their hosts. They have a greater sense of security and exposure to a rich variety of cultural learning opportunities such as family activities and sporting events.

The homestay owner will provide everything required by the student, including meals. Special dietary needs should be specified in advance of arrival in England

My family is a very Catholic family and on Sundays we prayed, watched TV and I read a book. We discussed about my life, where I lived and my family.

Lisa and her children, Taylor and Anna took me to Eastbourne with their family. I had a good day with them, doing shopping and speaking a lot. Lisa’s parents are good at jokes and I laughed so much.

I enjoyed being with my hosts, especially the daughters as we spent a lot of time together listening to music and putting on make up. I will miss them very much
